How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Waking Night Residential Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home

Ollerton
£30,500 – £32,500 per year
Full‑time | Permanent

Are you looking for a role where you can make a meaningful difference to a child’s life during the hours they need support the most?

Would you like to work night shifts in a calm, well‑resourced home where quality care, emotional wellbeing, and professional support are genuinely prioritised?

If so, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

Our client is seeking a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Ollerton. This role is ideal for someone who provides calm reassurance, consistency, and compassion throughout the night, helping young people feel safe, settled, and supported.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This position offers a combination of strong pay, structured working patterns, and a genuinely supportive care environment.

What makes this opportunity appealing?

-Above‑average salary compared to industry standards

-Fully funded Level 3, 4, or 5 qualifications

-Clear progression pathways into senior and management roles

-Well‑funded, well‑staffed homes focused on quality care

-A supportive organisation that prioritises staff wellbeing and development

About the Organisation

The client is a reputable provider of children’s residential services, committed to creating safe, nurturing homes where young people can thrive. Their homes are professionally staffed and well resourced, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with stability, emotional wellbeing, and positive routines.

There is a strong emphasis on staff development, with funded training, recognised qualifications, and clear career progression built into the organisation.

About the Role

As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of the young person overnight, ensuring they feel safe, reassured, and cared for.

This is a low‑risk, nurturing environment, focused on routines, sleep support, and emotional wellbeing. The setting is not characterised by frequent aggressive behaviour.

Working Pattern & Hours

* 2‑week rolling rota

* Week 1: 4 shifts

* Week 2: 3 shifts

* Shift times: 10:00pm – 8:00am

What You’ll Be Doing

* Provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night

* Respond to the emotional and physical needs of children

* Monitor and support children who experience sleep difficulties, anxiety, or nightmares

* Encourage and model positive bedtime and night‑time routines

* Respond promptly to incidents, safeguarding concerns, or emergencies in line with policies and procedures

* Administer first aid and medication where required, in accordance with training and guidelines

* Deliver high‑quality, consistent care aligned with care and placement plans

* Build safe, trusting relationships using DDP‑informed practice

* Accurately complete nightly records, keywork notes, and incident reports

* Support the young person’s education, health, and emotional wellbeing

* Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, contributing to handovers, reflective practice, and team meetings

* Support domestic tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment (e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping)

The client recognises that waking night roles are emotionally and practically demanding. In return, staff are supported within a team where care is not just provided, but truly lived — and where every decision is rooted in the wellbeing and potential of the young person.

Salary, Hours & Benefits

-Salary: £30,500 – £32,500 per year

-Structured rota supporting work–life balance

-Fully funded qualifications (Level 3, 4, or 5)

-Clear routes into senior and management roles

-Supportive leadership and well‑resourced homes

What the Client Is Looking For

Preferred:

*QCF Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People

Also desirable:

*Experience within residential childcare (minimum 1 year preferred)

*Understanding of child development and safeguarding

*Ability to remain calm, consistent, and reassuring during night‑time hours

*A full UK driving licence

Safeguarding & Compliance

The client is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All appointments are subject to appropriate background, compliance, and safeguarding checks.

They are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

Ready to Make a Difference — Even While the World Sleeps?

If you’re a compassionate, reliable individual who thrives in a night‑time support role and wants to build a long‑term career in children’s residential care, this could be the ideal opportunity.
