The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We need someone who can pick up the phone and actually get the money in.
Let's be honest, half the "Credit Controller" ads out there are just a chasing script with a payroll number attached. This isn't that. Our client (a well-established, stable business in Leeds) needs a Credit Controller who treats aged debt like a personal grudge and closes it out with charm, not just chase emails.
If you can read a client relationship, spot who's stalling versus who's genuinely stuck, and turn an awkward call into a payment plan without burning the bridge, you're exactly who we're after. Bonus points if you've ever made a Finance Director actually smile during a debtor review.
You'll be:
Owning a ledger and treating it like it's yours, not just working through a task list
Building real relationships with customers, not just sending statements into the void
Spotting patterns before they become problems (the client who's "just a bit late" every single month isn't a coincidence)
Working closely with Sales and Ops so credit control isn't the department everyone avoidsYou'll need:
Solid credit control experience - 2+ years ideally
Confidence on the phone (this is not an email-only role)
CICM study support genuinely welcomed, not just mentioned to tick a box
The ability to hold a firm line without sounding like a debt collectorWhy this one's worth your time: credit control is one of the few finance functions where AI can help you chase, but it still can't have the conversation. That's not going anywhere - and neither is the value you bring by doing it well.
Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
