Workshop Operative
Location: Sevenoaks
Salary: £30,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
A growing and well-established manufacturing business in Sevenoaks is looking for a Workshop Operative to join its expanding team. This is a hands-on role within a small, skilled workshop where attention to detail, practical ability and a willingness to learn are highly valued.
You don't need to have specific fibreglass experience, as full training will be provided.
However, we're looking for someone with a strong practical background who is confident using hand tools, working from measurements and drawings, and handling materials safely.
The Role
Working as part of a close workshop team, you'll be involved in the preparation, fabrication and assembly of specialist components using fibreglass and other materials.
* Measuring, marking and cutting materials accurately
* Assembling and bolting components
* Working from drawings, measurements and specifications
* Using a range of hand and workshop tools
* Handling and manoeuvring heavier materials safely
* Carrying out general workshop and fabrication duties
* Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
* Ensuring work is completed accurately and to a high standard
About You
We're looking for someone practical, reliable and keen to develop their skills within a specialist workshop environment.
Essential:
* 1–3 years' workshop, manufacturing or site-based experience
* Good numerical and measuring skills
* Confident using hand tools and workshop equipment
* Practical approach with good problem-solving skills
* Physically capable of manual handling
* Good attention to detail
* Willingness to learn new fabrication techniques
Desirable:
* Carpentry or joinery background
* Previous fibreglass experience
* General fabrication or workshop experience
* Experience working from technical drawings or measurements
* Previous experience working within a small team
Important Information
This is a non-welding role and is focused on practical fabrication, assembly and working with fibreglass materials.
Candidates whose experience is solely focused on welding or metalwork may not be suited to this position.
