A leading international law firm is hiring one Corporate Tax Associate (2–4 PQE) into a well-established practice looking to bring more balance to its structure. This is a genuine growth hire rather than a backfill, and the team is prepared to take its time to find the right quality of candidate the search has been running for a while precisely because they're prioritising calibre over speed of hire.
The practice covers the full breadth of top-tier corporate tax work, spanning:
- Corporate & Private Capital public and private M&A, IPOs, demergers, restructurings, returns of capital, joint ventures and private capital transactions
- Finance & Restructuring corporate equity and debt-based work, plus innovative solutions for restructuring and refinancing corporate debt in turbulent markets
- Real Estate commercial real estate tax work acting for developers, institutional investors, lenders and fund managers
- Tax Disputes large-scale, multi-faceted contentious tax matters in the UK and internationally, with a strong track record of successful resolution both in and out of court
Work has a genuine cross-border dimension, drawing on a large international office network for multi-jurisdictional mandates.
What You Will Get:
- Achievable bonus structure. Bonus threshold kicks in at 1,750 billable hours.
- Genuine breadth of practice. Most associates in the team work across a mix of the four core areas rather than being narrowly siloed, offering real variety alongside specialism.
- International reach as standard. A large, genuinely multi-jurisdictional office network means cross-border exposure is a regular feature of the work, not an occasional add-on.
What They Are Looking For
- England & Wales qualified (essential), from a top corporate tax practice
- 2–4 PQE, coming from a platform doing genuinely comparable work
- The team is more focused on tax practice ranking/reputation than firm prestige more broadly
- Open to candidates qualified in Ireland or New Zealand with international (not purely domestic) experience some transition training provided
- Candidates from US firms considered, though less common given most don't run dedicated tax teams
- Some flexibility on specific subspecialty gaps at this level, since junior associates generally do more generalist work genuine corporate tax grounding matters more than a perfect match across all four practice areas
