Scientific Equipment Technician
Location: Our Equipment Technician team operates over two sites – Oak Tree House (BB18) and Coleby House (BD23)
Salary: £27,297 – £32,500 per annum, DOE + Excellent Benefits!
Hours: 40 per week, Monday – Friday
Contract: Full time, Permanent

We’re looking for a Scientific Equipment Technician to help keep the technology behind our laboratories running smoothly.
From preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to equipment qualification and improvement projects, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting the scientists who rely on our equipment every day.

What You'll Be Doing
No two days are exactly the same, but you'll spend your time:
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of laboratory equipment
* Investigating faults and helping resolve technical issues quickly and effectively
* Acting as the first point of contact when equipment users need support
* Working with laboratory teams to minimise disruption and prioritise critical equipment
* Supporting equipment qualification activities, including IQ, OQ and PQ
* Assisting with troubleshooting investigations, risk assessments and root cause analysis
* Monitoring equipment and facilities to ensure they remain compliant and operational
* Managing spare parts and consumable stock levels
* Producing clear, accurate documentation that supports GMP and UKAS requirements
* Contributing ideas that improve processes, efficiency and reliability
This role supports activities across both our Oak Tree House and Coleby House sites, so flexibility is important.
What We're Looking For
You'll likely have either:
* A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
OR
* At least two years of experience working within a laboratory environment supporting similar equipment.
We'll also be looking for:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Practical maintenance, repair or technical fault-finding experience
* Good IT skills and a general understanding of hardware, software and networks
* Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
* A proactive approach and willingness to learn
* A full UK driving licence
* Bonus Points If You Have Experience With
* Chromatography systems
* Mass spectrometry instrumentation
* Chromatography Data Systems (CDS)
* Equipment validation and qualification
* GMP, UKAS or ISO 17025 regulated environments
