The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

One of the UK's leading infrastructure contractors is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a £20m public realm and active travel scheme in Selby. The project, which has a programme of approximately three years, will transform key areas of the town through improved pedestrian and cycle routes, public spaces and associated infrastructure works.
Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial function on the project, managing a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff whilst overseeing all aspects of commercial delivery. Responsibilities will include subcontract procurement and management, cost reporting, forecasting, change management, client liaison and ensuring the project achieves its commercial objectives throughout the lifecycle of the works.
This role would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in highways, public realm or civil engineering projects and a strong understanding of NEC contracts. Previous experience of mentoring or managing junior commercial staff would be highly advantageous, alongside the ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, stakeholders and operational teams.
