JR333: Transport Supervisor
Location: Purton, Wiltshire 
Salary: £36,819.46 per annum

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Transport Supervisor to join their team in Purton.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport or logistics professional to take on a key supervisory role within a busy operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of transport activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, improving operational efficiency, and leading a team of drivers to deliver a safe and reliable service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure full compliance with transport, environmental, and health & safety regulations, including tachograph management, vehicle defect reporting, and company policies.
Support the planning and optimisation of daily vehicle routes to maximise efficiency, minimise downtime, and ensure timely completion of collections and deliveries.
Monitor driver performance and productivity, providing coaching and support while addressing underperformance where necessary.
Conduct investigations relating to vehicle accidents, incidents, and staff conduct, ensuring accurate reporting and appropriate follow-up actions.
Oversee operational standards across vehicles, sites, and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and availability of resources.
Maintain accurate transport documentation and operational records in line with legal and company requirements.
Support credit control processes and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
Work closely with transport coordinators, depot management, drivers, and other internal teams to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
Promote a positive safety culture and ensure high standards of customer service are maintained at all times.
Skills and Qualifications:

Previous experience within transport, logistics, fleet operations, or distribution, ideally in a supervisory or team leadership position.
Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and optimise vehicle scheduling.
Good understanding of transport compliance, driver regulations, and health & safety requirements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across multiple teams.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve queries and maintain positive client relationships.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing documentation and compliance records.
Competent IT skills, including experience with transport management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
A proactive approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Full UK driving licence desirable.
