Quality Team Leader
Location: Stansted, Essex
Salary: £33,000-£35,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8am-5pm Friday 8-12.45

We are recruiting for this really exciting newly created role with our long term Client who are looking for an experienced Quality Team Leader to take responsibility for the quality function within a busy production and warehouse environment.  Your background sector within this role can be from any workplace, it's the knowledge of how to identify quality problems and make the changes that is key.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident walking the production and warehouse floors, identifying where errors are occurring and putting practical procedures in place to prevent them from happening again.
The company is looking for someone who will take ownership of quality across the operation. You will need to be comfortable questioning existing working practices, challenging the "this is how we have always done it" approach and clearly explaining what needs to change.
This Quality Team Leader role is not a role for someone who simply records mistakes after they have happened. We are looking for someone who can investigate why they are happening, introduce effective checks and procedures, train employees and make sure improvements are followed consistently.
 
Quality Team Leader Responsibilities

Take day-to-day responsibility for the Quality Department and quality standards across production and warehouse operations.
Maintain a visible presence across the shop floor, regularly checking working practices, products, stock, packaging and completed orders.
Carry out random and scheduled quality checks throughout production, picking, packing and goods-out.
Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, labelled and addressed correctly before dispatch.
Verify that the correct products and components are being picked from the correct locations.
Identify recurring mistakes, process weaknesses and potential failure points.
Investigate errors and non-conformances to establish the root cause rather than simply correcting the immediate problem.
Analyse failure modes and recommend practical corrective and preventative actions.
Record and report quality issues, trends and repeat errors.
Develop, introduce and maintain clear quality procedures, checklists and Standard Operating Procedures.
Review existing processes and challenge working practices where they are contributing to errors or poor-quality outcomes.
Introduce additional controls and sign-off stages where required.
Ensure corrective actions are completed and followed through.
Provide training, coaching and guidance to employees across the production and warehouse departments.
Carry out refresher training where errors or gaps in understanding are identified.
Work closely with warehouse, production, customer service and other departments to improve accuracy across the business.
Provide Management with clear, factual reports on quality issues, their causes and the action required.
Monitor quality performance and help create a "right first time" approach throughout the operation.

The ideal candidate will already have experience in a similar quality, compliance or process-led position within a manufacturing, production, warehouse, distribution or goods-out environment.
You will be:

Confident, resilient and comfortable challenging established ways of working.

Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to turn problems into workable procedures.
Analytical and naturally inclined to ask "why?" when something goes wrong.
Highly observant, with excellent attention to detail.
Comfortable working both in the office and on the production and warehouse floors.
Proactive and able to take control without waiting to be told what needs to be done.
A clear and confident communicator who can influence employees at every level.
Able to explain what needs to change, why it needs to change and how it will be achieved.
Organised and capable of keeping accurate records, reports and quality documentation.
Comfortable delivering training and ensuring procedures are understood and followed. Previous experience of root-cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions, internal auditing, non-conformance reporting or continuous improvement would be highly advantageous.
