How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Are you a biologist who loves teaching and wants to bring your subject knowledge to life for a wide range of learners? Do you want to join a dynamic, supportive Science team and take on real responsibility from day one? If so, come and join us.

As our new Biology Lecturer, you will teach across a rich and varied programme offer, from A Level Biology and BTEC Science to T Level Laboratory Science and Access to HE Diploma courses, working with learners aged 16 and above across both FE and HE levels. You will bring biology and bioscience to life through engaging, inclusive teaching in both practical and theory settings, helping learners achieve strong outcomes and progress to university, employment or further study.

This role carries genuine responsibility. As well as delivering across the Science curriculum, you will take on course management responsibilities within the department, playing a leadership role in shaping learner experience. It is a role for someone who wants more than a teaching job and is ready to contribute to a team that is growing in size, ambition and offer.

Both full time and part time roles are available. Please indicate your preference in your application.

* Curriculum development: Contribute enthusiastically to curriculum planning and development, individually and as part of the team, in line with college and awarding body requirements.

* Pastoral support: Act as personal tutor to a group of students, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents and guardians, and supporting learners' wider progress and wellbeing.

* Quality assurance: Support internal and external verification and inspection preparation, and contribute actively to the department's quality assurance processes.

* Wider contribution: Participate in open days, advice and guidance events, parents evenings, enrolment and marketing activities, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the department.
