How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Contract: Part-time, temporary – January to July 2027

Days: Monday to Wednesday

Hours: 8:15am–4:00pm, term time only

Start Date: January 2027

Teach Now is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Year 5 Class Teacher for a three-day-a-week job share at a warm and welcoming independent Jewish day school in Barnet.

You will teach a well-behaved class of 24 pupils who respond positively to clear routines, firm boundaries and well-paced lessons. The role offers an excellent work-life balance, substantial non-contact time and the support of an approachable Deputy Headteacher, who will be your job-share partner.

The Role

As the Year 5 Class Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured KS2 lessons.

Share responsibility for English and Maths planning across the week.

Take responsibility for planning three additional curriculum subjects.

Assess pupils progress and provide clear, purposeful feedback.

Maintain consistent expectations across both sides of the job share.

Work collaboratively with the Deputy Headteacher and supporting staff.

Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.

A strong bank of existing planning is available and can be adapted to suit your teaching style and the needs of the class. The school also follows a practical feedback approach, including live marking in Maths and focused corrections in English.

About You

The ideal Year 5 Class Teacher will:

Hold UK-recognised Qualified Teacher Status.

Have experience teaching within KS2.

Be organised, reliable and comfortable working collaboratively.

Deliver lessons with clear structure, pace and appropriate challenge.

Be warm and approachable while maintaining strong classroom expectations.

Communicate effectively to ensure continuity across the job share.

Why Apply?

Approximately 36% non-contact time during a typical week.

Two Jewish Studies lessons each day provide additional time for planning, marking and assessment.

A well-behaved class of 24 pupils with no significant behaviour concerns.

Existing planning and resources available to adapt.

A supportive and experienced Deputy Headteacher as your job-share partner.

A manageable marking approach designed to reduce unnecessary workload.

A genuine three-day teaching opportunity offering excellent work-life balance.
