An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highway Engineer to join a growing engineering design team based in St Albans.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of highway and infrastructure projects, contributing to schemes from early concept stages through to detailed design and construction support. You will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, delivering innovative and practical solutions across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities
·Deliver highway design solutions from feasibility through to detailed design and construction stages.
·Prepare technical drawings, reports, specifications, and design documentation.
·Produce highway layouts, alignment designs, and associated infrastructure details.
·Undertake highway drainage design and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
·Support the delivery of projects across highways, transport infrastructure, and related sectors.
·Collaborate with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders.
·Assist with technical reviews, design checks, and quality assurance processes.
Essential Requirements
·A degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
·Minimum of two years' post-graduate experience in civil engineering design within the highways sector.
·Experience using Civil 3D and highway alignment design software.
·Experience in highway drainage design.
·Strong understanding of highway design principles and relevant standards.
·Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience
·Experience working on a variety of highway and infrastructure projects.
·Familiarity with highway design software such as drainage modelling tools.
·Knowledge of traffic signs, road markings, pavement design, fencing, and vehicle restraint systems.
·Experience preparing or contributing to highway specifications and technical documentation.
·Progress towards professional registration with a relevant engineering institution.
Software Skills
Experience with:
·AutoCAD (2D/3D)
·Civil 3D for highway and infrastructure design
·Highway and drainage design packages
