How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Computer Science Teacher

    Location: Hertfordshire

    Contract Type: Full-time, temporary

    Start Date: 02/11/2026

    Salary: £35,602–£54,328 per annum (London Fringe M1–UPS3), national teacher pay scale

    Salary depends on experience and position on the Main Pay Range.

    Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only

    About the Role

    Teach Now is seeking a Computer Science Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Hertfordshire, teaching pupils aged 11–19 across Computing, ICT and Creative iMedia.

    You will plan engaging lessons that develop technical understanding, digital confidence and creativity. From core computing concepts to practical ICT and media-based projects, you will help pupils apply their knowledge in meaningful ways while adapting teaching for different abilities and learning needs.

    You will join an experienced, collaborative faculty where colleagues share resources, ideas and effective teaching approaches. The school offers a structured induction and a welcoming environment where you can continue developing your practice while contributing to departmental and wider school life.

    This role would suit a teacher with strong digital subject knowledge who enjoys making technical concepts accessible, building positive relationships and inspiring young people to see where their skills could take them.

    Key Responsibilities

    Teach Computer Science, ICT and Creative iMedia across relevant secondary year groups.

    Plan engaging lessons that develop technical knowledge, problem-solving and creative digital skills.

    Adapt teaching to meet varied learning needs and levels of attainment.

    Assess progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.

    Maintain an inclusive classroom with high expectations for learning and behaviour.

    Work collaboratively with department colleagues to share resources and develop teaching approaches.

    Contribute to departmental activities and the wider life of the school.

    Requirements

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

    Experience teaching Computer Science, Computing, ICT or Creative iMedia in a secondary setting.

    Strong subject knowledge across relevant digital disciplines.

    Confidence planning, assessing and adapting lessons for different learners.

    Clear communication, positive classroom management and a collaborative approach.

    The right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.

    A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
