How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently working with an established and reputable main contractor to recruit a Business Development Executive to support its continued growth and strengthen its position across key construction sectors.

With a strong track record the business delivers a diverse range of construction, refurbishment, new-build and specialist projects across London, the South East. Its portfolio includes education, healthcare, commercial, residential, heritage and community projects, underpinned by a commitment to quality, client relationships and successful project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and proactive Business Development Executive to join an established construction business, helping identify new opportunities, develop relationships and contribute to its ongoing growth.

    The Role

Working closely with the business development and pre-construction teams, you will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with prospective clients and consultants, and supporting the company's wider growth strategy.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Identifying and developing new business opportunities across relevant construction sectors.

    * Building and maintaining relationships with clients, architects, consultants, quantity surveyors and other key industry contacts.

    * Researching forthcoming construction projects, procurement opportunities and potential routes to market.

    * Monitoring public-sector frameworks, tender portals and project pipelines to identify suitable opportunities.

    * Supporting the preparation of PQQs, tender submissions, presentations and other pre-construction documentation.

    * Arranging and attending client meetings, networking events and industry functions to strengthen the company's market presence.

    * Maintaining an accurate CRM system, recording client interactions and tracking potential opportunities.

    * Working collaboratively with estimating, pre-construction and operational teams to support successful business development activity.

    * Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and client requirements to identify opportunities for future growth.

    The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates with a background in business development, sales, client relationship management or bid coordination, ideally within the construction or wider built environment sector.

You will be a confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills and a proactive approach to identifying and developing new opportunities.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

    * Experience in a business development, sales or client-facing role.

    * An understanding of the construction industry and its procurement processes.

    * The ability to research projects, identify decision-makers and develop new client relationships.

    * Strong written communication skills, with experience contributing to proposals, presentations or tender submissions.

    * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

    * A commercially aware mindset, with the confidence to engage with clients and industry professionals at different levels.

    * A motivated, professional and collaborative approach.

If you are an ambitious Business Development Executive looking for your next opportunity within the construction sector, we would be keen to hear from you.
