Job Title: Underwriting Team Leader - E Trade

Our client is a rapidly expanding MGA with a growing presence across the UK and ambitious plans for significant growth over the next 48 months. As part of this continued expansion, they are looking to appoint an Underwriting Team Leader to take responsibility for a team of five Underwriters. This is a hands-on leadership role, focused on developing people, driving performance and ensuring the team consistently delivers against its underwriting and commercial objectives.
The Role:
You will lead and manage a team of five Underwriters, providing day-to-day direction, coaching and support. A key part of the role will be developing the team and helping individuals reach their full potential through regular 1-to-1s, clear objectives and ongoing performance management.
You will be responsible for ensuring the team hits its targets, maintaining high underwriting standards and providing support on more complex underwriting decisions where required.
The role will also involve working closely with senior management to support the MGA's wider growth plans, identify opportunities to improve performance and help build a high-performing underwriting function as the business continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of five Underwriters.
- Conduct regular 1-to-1s and manage individual performance against agreed objectives.
- Drive the team to achieve underwriting, productivity and commercial targets.
- Provide technical underwriting support and guidance on complex cases.
- Maintain strong underwriting standards and ensure the team operates within agreed appetite and authority.
- Identify training and development needs across the team.
- Work closely with senior management to support the company's ambitious growth strategy.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced insurance professional with a strong underwriting background and proven leadership capability.
You may already be an Underwriting Team Leader, or you could be a Senior Underwriter ready to take the next step into people management.
You will be confident managing performance, developing individuals and creating an environment where people are motivated to succeed. You will also have strong commercial awareness and the technical credibility to support your team with underwriting decisions.
