How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with an impressive order book, long-term secured work and genuine opportunities to progress into senior operational leadership positions.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take full responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple high-value Power & Substation projects across the UK, leading multidisciplinary project teams from pre-construction through to commissioning and final handover.

You'll be expected to provide strong technical, commercial and operational leadership while maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.

Regular nationwide travel will be required, with accommodation and business expenses fully covered.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery of multiple HV, Power and Substation projects across the UK.

* Manage projects from tender handover through to completion and client handover.

* Take full responsibility for programme, cost, quality and commercial performance.

* Lead Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors across multiple live projects.

* Develop and maintain project programmes, procurement schedules and resource plans.

* Monitor project budgets, forecasts, variations and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.

* Chair client progress meetings and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.

* Review technical drawings, specifications, construction methodologies and engineering documentation.

* Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

* Coordinate testing, commissioning and energisation activities.

* Produce regular project reports for senior management.

* Mentor and develop junior Project Managers and site management teams.

* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.

* Support business development by maintaining excellent client relationships and identifying future opportunities.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven background delivering major electrical infrastructure projects within the Power, Utilities or Transmission & Distribution sectors.

You'll be an organised and commercially astute leader, capable of managing multiple complex projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and client satisfaction.

Essential Experience

- Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager within the Power, Utilities or Infrastructure sectors.

- Proven experience delivering High Voltage (HV), Substation or Electrical Infrastructure projects.

- Strong understanding of National Grid and DNO project delivery.

- Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and financial performance.

- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and specialist subcontractors.

- Strong programme planning and resource management skills.

- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.

- Excellent client-facing, leadership and communication skills.

- Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.

- Full UK Driving Licence.

- Willingness to travel nationwide.

Desirable Experience

* National Grid Person competencies or previous National Grid framework experience.

* Transmission & Distribution project experience.

* Structural steel installation knowledge.

* Primary plant installation experience.

* Mechanical installation and earthing experience.

* NEC Contract knowledge.

* HNC, HND or Degree qualified in an Engineering or Construction-related discipline.

* SMSTS, Temporary Works or Appointed Person qualifications.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to become part of a growing and forward-thinking contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex Power & Substation projects throughout the UK. You'll work alongside an experienced leadership team on high-profile infrastructure schemes while benefiting from genuine long-term career progression, autonomy and the chance to make a real impact within the business
