Job Title: Head of Commercial
Location: Staffordshire
Salary: c.£85,000 + Company Car

A leading modular construction business is seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead and strengthen its commercial function. The role has been created to support continued growth across England and Wales and would suit either a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a broader leadership position or an established Head of Commercial with experience in modular, off-site or traditional construction environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing contractual and commercial risk while supporting project delivery across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the commercial management of construction and modular building projects.
* Oversee contract administration and ensure contractual compliance across live projects.
* Manage commercial risk and maximise project profitability.
* Provide commercial guidance and support to operational and project delivery teams.
* Review, negotiate and administer JCT and NEC contracts.
* Monitor project costs, valuations, variations and final accounts.
* Support tender reviews, pricing strategies and commercial decision-making.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of commercial processes and controls.
Experience Required:
* Proven Quantity Surveying background within construction, modular or related sectors.
* Strong working knowledge of both JCT and NEC forms of contract.
* Experience managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong understanding of cost control, valuations, variations and final accounts.
* Commercially astute with the ability to identify and manage risk.
* Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
* Strong analytical and reporting capability.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
* Experience within modular or off-site construction environments.
* Exposure to public sector construction projects.
* Previous leadership or department management experience.
* Experience supporting both operational and commercial project teams.
* Chartered status or working towards a relevant professional qualification.
