Are you a seasoned Database Administrator with deep, hands-on expertise in managing enterprise-scale CA IDMS environments?
Do you have a strong background in mainframes, comfortably navigating data communications, application support, and complex database structures?
Are you looking for a long-term, high-impact contract opportunity where you can oversee mission-critical data systems for a major organization?
Our client is a prominent enterprise technology provider with operations tied to vital UK infrastructure. They are currently scaling up their mainframe division and are seeking multiple contract specialists to ensure the absolute reliability, efficiency, and security of their core database environments. This is an initial 6-month engagement with exceptional scope for extensions.
As the successful candidate:
- You will take ownership of the database ecosystem, driving the installation, maintenance, configuration, and optimization of the platform.
- You'll act as a core technical reference point, handling everything from system generation tasks and communication troubleshooting to performance tuning and space management.
- Working closely with the broader engineering group, you will assist application teams utilizing legacy languages to ensure seamless, high-throughput transaction processing.
The ideal candidate:
- Extensive background in enterprise-level CA IDMS administration, keeping 24x7 high-availability systems running smoothly – required.
- Proven proficiency with IDMS-DC, ADS, and optimizing database interactions for COBOL programs – required.
- Strong capabilities in structural database management, including schema and subschema modifications, area resizing, and reorganizations – required.
- Well-versed in mainframe operations, including JCL, TSO/ISPF, journal management, and robust disaster recovery execution – required.
- Based in the United Kingdom and available to start a new remote contract assignment on short notice – required.
