Procurement Assistant
Mansfield - Office Based
£25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience + benefits

TurnerFox Recruitment is working with engineering business in Mansfield to recruit a Procurement Assistant

This is a newly created role within a growing business, where purchasing and supplier coordination have traditionally been handled by the MD or Senior Management, supported by a procurement administrator. As the company continues to grow, they are now looking for someone who can take ownership of purchasing coordination and help bring more structure and efficiency to the process.

This is a varied, hands-on role within a smaller business where you will work closely with senior management, suppliers and the shop floor, helping ensure materials and services are available when needed to keep projects and production running smoothly.

Development - As this is a newly created role, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to gradually take on more responsibility within purchasing and supplier coordination and a great opportunity to really make the role their own!!

The Role of Procurement Assistant

You will coordinate purchasing activity across multiple projects and operational requirements, ensuring materials, equipment and services are ordered accurately and delivered on time.

Working closely with the operations team and suppliers, you will also have the opportunity to improve processes, strengthen supplier relationships and gradually take on more responsibility within purchasing and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities for Purchasing & Supply Chain Coordinator

Processing purchase orders with existing suppliers
Liaising with the shop floor to manage goods inward and job boxes to ensure parts are available for build
Processing project, site, ad hoc and stock purchase orders
Maintaining and updating project material lists
Monitoring supplier progress and expediting orders where required
Managing returns, credits and purchasing queries
Arranging transport, deliveries and parcel collections
Booking accommodation and travel for project teams when required
Supporting project administration and document control
Producing delivery packs for completed projects
Assisting with contract renewals and maintaining supplier records
Maintaining PPE records
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers and manufacturers
Meeting with suppliers and manufacturers where required
Supporting supplier agreements and contract arrangements
Assisting with supplier negotiations where appropriate
Identifying practical ways to improve purchasing systems and processes
Providing general administrative support across purchasing, projects and operationsThe Ideal Candidate for the role of Procurement Assistant will have:

Experience within purchasing, procurement, supply chain
Confident using systems, spreadsheets and supplier portals
Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment would be advantageous
Strong communication skills and ability to build effective supplier relationships
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
Proactive and reliable with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
Comfortable working within a smaller, fast-moving business environment
