How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

They are looking to recruit a proactive and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    This is a predominantly mechanically focused role, with a strong emphasis on hydraulic systems, automated production machinery and maintaining the reliable operation of plant equipment across the site.

    Working on a rotating three-shift pattern of 8-hour shifts, you will be part of a team of three engineers per shift, playing a key role in maximising equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting production efficiency. Package details include:

    * Salary of £46,000+

    * Contributory pension scheme

    * Annual bonus

    * 24 days’ annual leave, increasing to 26 days, plus bank holidays

    * Healthcare cash plan

    * Discounted gym membership

    * Cycle-to-work scheme

    * Free on-site parking

    Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections and servicing of manufacturing machinery and associated plant equipment.

    * Respond to machinery breakdowns, diagnose faults and undertake effective repairs to minimise production downtime.

    * Fault-find, maintain and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, power packs, pipework and associated components.

    * Identify recurring mechanical faults and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.

    You must be Apprentice-trained or qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience. Some other experience for the Maintenance Engineer includes:

    * Previous experience in a mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing or production environment.

    * Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

    * Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated components.

    * Experience maintaining automated production machinery and industrial plant equipment.

    This opportunity is commutable from Mansfield, Sheffield, Matlock, Nottingham and Derby.

    If you’re a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer with strong hydraulic experience and are looking to join an established manufacturing business with a long-standing reputation for quality and engineering excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
