About Your RoleAs a Mid-level Backend Engineer at Aiir, you'll be instrumental in developing, enhancing, and maintaining our robust AI-assisted jet engine inspection platform. Based in Amsterdam but with a remote-first approach, you'll have the flexibility to work from almost anywhere while collaborating with our small, dynamic team. Your primary focus will be on building scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems and APIs that power our cutting-edge solution. Together with the team, you’ll work towards delivering an unparalleled jet engine inspection solution for aviation professionals globally.
The JobJoin our Engineering team to collaborate closely with the Product and AI teams, to bring about the best AI-assisted jet engine inspection platform for airlines, leasing companies, and borescope inspectors across the world and set the industry standard.
In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining backend features, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security. You'll work hands-on with our core backend technologies, primarily Python, MongoDB, and FastAPI, deployed within Azure Cloud. Familiarity with Redis will also be beneficial as you contribute to our product's evolution. You will be a key contributor to our core product development.

- You have strong proficiency in designing, developing, and deploying scalable, reliable, and secure backend services.
- You have 3-5 years of experience with Python. Experience with MongoDB, FastAPI and Azure Cloud is essential, and familiarity with Redis is a nice-to-have.
- You are independent, proactive, eager to learn, and committed to continuously expanding your knowledge within software development.
- You have strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset to identify and address challenges to provide our customers with an outstanding experience.
- You are a team player who actively contributes ideas, gives and receives feedback regularly, and communicates early about issues, uncertainties, risks, and opportunities.
- You are familiar with an Agile/Kanban environment and embody an agile mindset and lean principles.
- You have a detail-oriented approach to ensure high-quality code, maintainable architectures, and adherence to coding standards.
- You are familiar with best practices and proactively consider architecture, performance, security, and developer experience in your code (KISS principle). You can explain and reason about your backend design and code choices.
- You have a solid understanding of backend performance optimization techniques and tools for improving web API speed and responsiveness.
- You contribute to quality assurance, including best practice guidelines, CI/CD, monitoring, and demonstrate proper use of relevant tooling and libraries.
- You have effective time management and organizational skills to meet project deadlines.

At Aiir you choose the location you work from, that can be from home or at our Amsterdam office (we already have payroll in DE, NL and ES). To support this we work in a customized virtual office, and provide high-end company laptops and office equipment when needed.
- 32-40 hours per week.
- Salary of €45.000 to €55.000 based on experience.
