Are you an accounting leader who likes to own the full close—not just review it? Do you enjoy bringing structure to a finance environment that’s improving fast, but isn’t a “finished product” yet? If you’re hands‑on, proactive, and comfortable being the financial reporting backbone in an international scale‑up, this Head of Accounting role at AIMMS could be a great fit.
Why You’ll Love Working With UsAt AIMMS, we build optimization software that helps organizations make better decisions—fast. Behind the scenes, we’re strengthening and professionalizing our finance function to match our growth ambitions. This role is central to that journey. You’ll join a small, driven finance team where you’ll have real ownership, broad exposure (NL, US, Singapore), and the opportunity to materially improve how we run accounting, reporting, and compliance. You won’t step into a “monthly routine on rails.” You’ll step into a team that has already made major improvements—and is ready for the next step up in quality, consistency, and automation.
Your Role & ImpactFinancial Reporting & Audit: Own the end‑to‑end monthly and annual close for four Dutch entities. You’ll be the primary lead for the annual statutory audit, managing the auditor relationship, preparing all documentation, and ensuring the final accounts are bulletproof.
Dutch Tax & Compliance: Act as the main point of contact for the Belastingdienst. You’ll own all filings (VAT, ICP, CIT, and payroll taxes) and maintain our transfer pricing documentation in line with existing agreements.
Payroll & Treasury: Partner with People & Culture to ensure flawless Dutch payroll runs and correct accounting treatment. You’ll also manage banking relationships, group liquidity, and weekly payment runs across the Dutch entities.
International Coordination: Provide group‑level consolidation and align processes with our local partners in Singapore and our colleague in the US (Seattle), ensuring consistency in reporting across the globe.
Systems & ERP (Odoo): Take full ownership of Odoo from an accounting perspective. You’ll drive automation, optimize workflows, and ensure our system configuration supports a high‑quality, efficient close.
Team & Stakeholders: Lead and mentor a Junior Finance Operations Specialist. Beyond the finance team, you’ll work cross‑functionally with Sales, R&D, and People & Culture to translate business operations into accurate financial data.
You’re someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with real‑world, in‑house experience—and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. You bring structure, ask the right questions, and help the organization move from “good” to “great.”
- HBO work/thinking level – Bachelor in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics
- 5+ years of experience in a similar accounting role (hands‑on, end‑to‑end responsibility).
- In‑house accounting experience (preferred) – You’ve worked in a company environment and know how to “do” accounting in practice (experience from an accounting firm is fine if you’ve since moved into industry).
- Experience in an international environment (preferred) – Comfortable coordinating with colleagues/providers across borders (US/Singapore coordination is part of the role; deep local GAAP expertise there isn’t required).
- Strong close, statutory accounts, and audit coordination skills – You can run the process, not just support it.
- Dutch tax exposure – Familiar with BTW/ICP/VPB/loonheffingen and comfortable working with advisors and the Belastingdienst.
- Transfer pricing awareness – You don’t need to be a specialist, but it shouldn’t be new territory (APA/cost‑plus methodology).
- Systems affinity – Comfortable working in an ERP and improving workflows (Odoo experience is a plus, not a must).
- Dutch language (preferred) – Not a hard requirement, but helpful in communication with the Belastingdienst and local stakeholders.
Proactive and comfortable in a changing environment. Hands‑on when needed—your team is small, and that’s part of the appeal. Structured, accurate, and ownership‑driven. A clear communicator who can work with everyone from Sales to R&D to People & Culture. Someone who knows what “good” looks like and helps raise the bar.
Life at AIMMS: The Good StuffYou’ll join a company where deep technology meets real‑world impact—and where people genuinely care about what they build and how they work together.
