At PostNL our business unit "Cross Border Solutions" (CBS) makes it easy for people and businesses to communicate and trade across international boundaries. CBS aims to become the most respected service provider by supporting the cross-border e-commerce market through creative and innovative distribution solutions.

As a Medior Data Scientist within CBS, you design and deliver end-to-end AI-driven solutions that create measurable business impact across our international e-commerce network. You go beyond experimentation. You build scalable, production-ready data products that operate reliably in real-world environments. From problem definition and modeling to deployment and monitoring in the cloud, you take ownership of the full lifecycle of advanced analytics and AI solutions.

You translate complex logistics and commercial challenges into intelligent, maintainable, and user-oriented solutions. As a strategic partner to the business, you ensure that analytical models are not only accurate, but also scalable, reliable, and sustainable.

You combine strong analytical expertise with engineering maturity and a product-oriented mindset. You are driven to translate data and AI into scalable, production-ready solutions that deliver real business value. You combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder management skills and a collaborative, people-oriented mindset.

Additionally, you recognize yourself in the following:

• 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
• Proven experience developing and deploying end-to-end ML solutions in production environments
• Experience working with LLMs: you understand how the models and algortithms behind the LLM work, and have the internal curiosity to stay on top of the latest developments.
• Solid experience with machine learning algorithms and familiarity with modern AI/GenAI applications
• Experience implementing MLOps practices, including versioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management
• Excellent Python (object-oriented) and SQL skills, with a focus on clean architecture and modular design
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and containerization (e.g., Docker)
• A structured approach to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code
• A proactive mindset and curiosity to explore and apply emerging AI techniques
