About the RoleThis role oversees the safe execution of medium to large construction projects, ensuring strict compliance with EHS standards and site safety requirements. The Safety Supervisor proactively identifies and mitigates risks through inspections, permit reviews, and hazard assessments. Working closely with project teams and contractors, the role embeds safety into daily construction activities and decision-making. Authority is held to stop work in unsafe conditions and drive corrective actions. The position plays a key role in promoting a strong, safety-first culture across all project stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Construction Safety Oversight – Supervise and coordinate all EHS and construction safety activities on medium to large-scale projects.
- Inspections & Hazard Control – Conduct regular site inspections, identify unsafe conditions or behaviors, and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Permit & Risk Management – Review and approve work permits, risk assessments, and job safety analyses to ensure safe execution of work.
- Incident Prevention & Response – Proactively prevent incidents, stop work when unsafe conditions are observed, and report safety performance and incidents.
- Safety Culture & Collaboration – Promote a strong safety-first culture by working closely with project managers, contractors, and site leadership.
- Education & Certification – Relevant qualification in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field, with mandatory MVK certification.
- Construction Safety Experience – Proven experience supervising EHS/Safety activities on medium to large construction projects, preferably in complex or regulated environments.
- Regulatory Knowledge – Strong knowledge of local safety regulations, construction EHS standards, and industry best practices.
- Field & Leadership Capability – Demonstrated ability to work independently on-site, conduct inspections, stop unsafe work, and influence contractors and project teams.
- Language & Communication – Native-level Dutch speaking ability with strong communication skills to effectively engage workers, contractors, and site leadership.
