Equipment Design Engineer (EU BV)

• Design mechanical systems for food processing equipment


• Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) for design and modeling of stainless-steel structures


• Work with electro-mechanical components: motors, gearboxes, pneumatics/hydraulics, and sensors


• Apply sanitary design principles and knowledge of clean-in-place (CIP) systems


• Select food-grade and corrosion-resistant materials suitable for hygienic environments


• Develop custom solutions tailored to specific food products and processes


• Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA, EHEDG)


• Collaborate with food technologists, production teams, and external suppliers to optimize equipment performance


• Produce detailed technical documentation including manuals, part lists, and maintenance procedures


• Layout major components for various freezer models as directed by Project Engineers


• Create drawing packages and flat-pattern shop drawings


• Check and review detailed part drawings from junior designers


• Validate designs through analysis, inspection, and testing


• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system


• Use Vault to document and manage drawings


• Coordinate closely with engineers, shop managers, and other internal stakeholders


• Support fabrication by working directly with shop heads and fabricators to ensure ease of manufacturing


• Investigate and resolve mechanical failures and installation challenges


• Supervise and guide junior designers, reviewing and approving their work


• Ensure adherence to all FPS administrative and health & safety policies


• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline


• At least 5 years of experience in industrial equipment design and engineering


• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks and MS Office, and other popular design software


• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking


• Experience with potato, vegetable and protein industries is a plus


• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively


• Good communication in Dutch and English in combination with good collaboration skills


• Team player and able to build and maintain relationships for both internal and external stakeholders


• Traveling may be required depending on projects and client contact
