The role

You are the essential link between Engineering and IT. Do you thrive on enhancing engineering processes through cutting‑edge software? If so, we want you! Join us as Functional Application Specialist 3DX – CAD PLM Structures, and spearhead the development of engineering functionalities within our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform, 3DExperience (3DX). Will you find ways to automate the creation of our design? Or guide your colleagues to collaborate in a data‑driven future‑proof way? You will work on multiple Damen Naval projects simultaneously, and get a unique insight of all project phases of these impressive products.

Key accountabilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Advise and set up of product structures EBOM/MBOM
• Oversee development of parametric structure parts and libraries
• Set up project‑related geometrical reference system
• Collaborate with stakeholders and PLM Architect, translating engineering needs into functional specifications which lead to newly developed solutions in the platform
• Coordinate testing of newly developed functionalities in DTAP environments
• Coordinate testing of new and existing features in the event of a software migration
• Maintain productive relationships with software suppliers and implementation partners
• Analyze issues, and provide support together with key users to the CAD/PLM users (occasional travel is required)
• Advocate and protect the PLM data‑driven solutions
• Prepare 3DX training materials, show & tells, user guides & admin guides
• Pro‑actively research, learn, and implement the digitalization innovations of tomorrow

Skills & experience

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or proven competence in shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, or Business information management.
• Proficiency with the Dassault Systemes 3DExperience platform, or expert in any other 3D CAD associative assembly modeler (Siemens NX, Tekla, PTC Creo, Solidworks).
• Familiarity with Cadmatic Hull (Legacy) is a pre.
• Experience in programming (Python/VBA/Batch) applied to CAD is advantageous.
• Knowledge of PLM principles.
• Excellent command of the English language, with proficiency in Dutch being advantageous.
• Ability to work in Vlissingen, The Netherlands.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non‑EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
