Action is the fastest-growing international non-food discount retailer in Europe. There’s a good chance you regularly visit one of our 3,300 stores or our webshop for the very best and most surprising deals! In 30 years, we have grown from one store in Enkhuizen to more than 3,300 stores across Europe. We are literally expanding every day with new stores in more and more countries. We offer a broad and constantly changing assortment of around 6,000 products across 14 categories. In addition, our webshop offers unique, irresistible online deals for even more Action.
In the webshop, we offer even more fun and surprising deals at extremely low prices. To achieve our ambitions, we are looking for a driven, highly commercial (Junior) Buyer to strengthen our e-commerce Buying team. In this role, you are always looking for the most surprising “must-have” deals at incredible prices. You are a true all-rounder with commercial boldness. You maintain relationships with suppliers across Europe and the Far East and ensure a good balance. Together with your team, you ensure that the right deals are available at the right time.
Your daily actions
As a (Junior) Buyer e-commerce, you are part of the Buying department and work closely with the e-commerce Buyer and Buyers from other product categories. Your job is to manage the procurement of weekly online-only deals from A to Z. This includes products such as garden items, toys, and cooking and baking supplies. You also collaborate with colleagues from departments such as Marketing, Digital, and Supply Chain to achieve e-commerce objectives.
As a (Junior) Buyer e-commerce, you carry significant responsibility for the composition of the e-commerce assortment. Because you are constantly searching for new products and understand customer demand, you determine what ultimately gets sold in the webshop. You work closely with the Buyer to secure the best deals. You enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You also prepare negotiations with (potential) suppliers and, together with the stock planning department, ensure that your products are available at the right time. Additionally, you closely monitor the market to ensure that Action can continue to guarantee the lowest prices for unique products in the countries where we operate.
Your team
Our department consists of Buying, Direct Sourcing, Commercial Planning, and Quality. We continuously scan the market for new products to surprise our customers, negotiate with suppliers, analyze sales to see what performs well, and create promotions such as weekly deals or seasonal offers. We also work closely with departments such as Supply Chain, Marketing, and Legal.
This is you
A (Junior) Buyer e-commerce at Action is commercial, entrepreneurial, cost-conscious, and thrives in an international, dynamic environment. You have a strong sense of responsibility and enjoy working in teams—multiple teams, in fact, as we work in a “Value Stream” setup where different disciplines collaborate to create maximum value.
You are assertive and analytically strong. You work extensively with data that needs to be analyzed and shared within the organization. You are supported in this by a Customer Insights analyst. You are determined to achieve your goals. Communication is also one of your strengths—you can easily translate sales data into concrete new product ideas.
You also have experience in Retail and/or e-commerce and affinity with the products. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset and some commercial experience.
Additionally, you have:
- HBO-level thinking (higher professional education), preferably in a commercial or retail-related field
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Retail/Buying
- Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written
