SEN English Teacher

A newly-opening Specialist Provision in Rochdale (Sept 2026) are seeking an SEN Teacher to lead a small group of students with complex SEMH, ASC and other learning needs across KS3/4 English.
Job Description:
- Permanent, full-time Teaching position
- Nurturing, brand-new SEMH School - part of a well-established care group
- Work with students aged 7-17 with a range of needs: ASC, SEMH, other complex learning and mental health needs
- Small classes of max. 4-5 students (high staff/student ratios)
- Trauma-informed practice, child-centred approach
- Oversee class Teaching Assistants to ensure all students can thrive within English; plan and deliver English lessons through a purpose-built curriculum
- Start date September 2026

- QTS/QTLS essential, with experience working in an SEND setting
- Child-centred approach to teaching - understands and implements trauma-informed practices
- Calm and patient demeanour, with strong classroom management skills
- Excellent behaviour management, adaptability to deal with unpredictable and unregulated behaviour
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the first generation of staff at this special SEMH Provision in Rochdale. The school will cater to 55 children aged 7-17; as English Teacher, you will lead a small class of up to 5 children. The school takes a child-centred approach to education, with high staff/student ratios, and all strategies implement trauma-informed practice.
