The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
At SPX Radiodetection, we're looking for a Senior Buyer to work within our Supply Chain team, leading procurement activities for key product lines, managing key accounts, while driving cost reduction, supplier performance and continuous improvement.
This is a highly collaborative role within engineering and projects, where you'll influence sourcing decisions from concept through to production and play a key part in delivering innovative products,
What you'll be doing
* Lead procurement activities for major suppliers.
* Partner closely with PMO & Engineering to support product development and engineering change.
* Manage large RFQ packages and supplier selection.
* Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Develop sourcing strategies and identify new suppliers.
* Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
* Manage supplier performance, quality, delivery and risk.
* Travel to suppliers and other SPX sites as required.
What we're looking for
* Procurement experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience delivering cost reduction and continuous improvement programmes.
* Commercially minded with excellent negotiation skills.
* Able to work at pace and manage multiple priorities.
* Comfortable working closely with engineers and technical teams.
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
* Knowledge of mechanical, electrical or electronic components is desirable.
* CIPS qualification (or working towards) is an advantage.

Location
* Hybrid working based in Bristol (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the office).
* Supplier and occasional UK travel required.
