Job Title: Caretaker / Maintenance Operative
Location: Whetstone
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 12:30pm
Salary: £20 per hour (20 hours per week)
Requirement: Car owner essential
Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and hands-on Caretaker / Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day running of two adjacent residential buildings set within their own grounds in Whetstone.
This is a varied role combining maintenance, light cleaning, and general caretaking duties. You will play a key part in ensuring the buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained. Occasional travel to other nearby sites may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
* General & Grounds Duties
* Carry out daily visual inspections of the building exterior and grounds
* Sweep car park areas and conduct regular litter picking
* Seasonal duties including leaf blowing
* Inspect internal communal areas for maintenance or cleaning issues
* Manage bin stores, including moving bins for collection
* Prepare flats for new tenant move-ins
* Respond to tenant queries in a professional and timely manner
* Maintain daily communication with the managing agent (Outlook use required)
* Conduct statutory checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors)
Maintenance Duties
* Perform general maintenance and minor repairs in communal areas and flats
* Carry out minor plumbing and appliance repairs
* Undertake basic decorating as required
Cleaning Duties
* Provide ad hoc cleaning in high-traffic areas between scheduled cleaning visits
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role (preferred)
* Strong all-round maintenance skills with the ability to handle basic repairs
* Ability to carry out decorating tasks
* Comfortable undertaking light cleaning duties
* Self-motivated and able to work independently (often as a lone worker)
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Flexible and willing to travel to other sites when required
* Positive attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile
