How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

About St Elizabeth’s Centre

Set within 60 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, St Elizabeth’s Centre is a charity supporting children, young people, and adults with complex needs. Our specialist Sixth Form provides a unique and highly personalised learning environment for young people aged 16–19 with learning difficulties, disabilities, epilepsy, and autism.

We deliver bespoke education and transition pathways that help learners build confidence, independence, employability skills, and preparation for adulthood. This is a calm, supportive, and aspirational environment where meaningful learning takes place every day.

We are proud to be a values-led organisation — Aspirational, Collaborative, Joyful and Compassionate — and we are looking for a passionate teacher who shares our commitment to helping young people live life to the full.

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and committed SEN Teacher to join our growing Sixth Form team. You will lead a small class group of learners with complex needs, delivering engaging and personalised learning that supports both academic achievement and personal development.

This is a fantastic opportunity to teach with purpose in a nurturing and well-resourced environment where every milestone matters. Whether your experience comes from special education or mainstream teaching, if you are passionate about inclusive education and preparing young people for adulthood, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver tailored and engaging teaching across a range of abilities and learning needs
  • Support learners to develop independence, communication, and life skills alongside academic outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, and families
  • Create a positive, structured, and motivating learning environment
  • Monitor, assess, and celebrate learner progress and achievement
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and person-centred planning

About You

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • Experience working with learners with SEND, ideally within a post-16 setting
  • Creative, adaptable, and nurturing approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

Why Join St Elizabeth’s?

  • £2,500 Joining Bonus!
  • Small class sizes with 1:1 support for each student
  • Structured induction and ongoing CPD
  • SEN-specific training and development opportunities
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • Enhanced DBS paid for by us
  • Free on-site parking
  • Employee wellbeing support and staff benefits platform
  • Beautiful countryside setting with excellent facilities

How to Apply

Apply now by submitting a completed application form and CV. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged.

We welcome informal visits — to arrange a tour, contact: recruitment@stelizabeths.org.uk

Please note: Due to our rural location, access to personal transport is essential.

Safeguarding & Inclusion

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young adults. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check. This post involves regulated activity.

We are an equal opportunities employer and actively welcome applications from all backgrounds. If you require reasonable adjustments, please contact us during the recruitment process.

Teach with purpose. Prepare young people for life. Join our Sixth Form team at St Elizabeth’s.
