How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (Building Services) – Cambridge

    An SME building services firm, known for its exceptionally high staff retention, is looking to appoint a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join their team, based in Cambridge.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a few years' experience to work across a varied portfolio of building services projects, playing a hands-on role in design and delivery within a close-knit, supportive team environment where people tend to stay for the long term.

    The Role:

    Producing mechanical or electrical designs across a range of building services projects
    Preparing detailed designs, calculations, and specifications
    Working closely with project managers, senior engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
    Coordinating with architects and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs
    Ensuring designs comply with current building regulations and industry standardsWhat's Required:

    A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
    3+ years' experience in a building services design role
    Strong working knowledge of relevant design software (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD)
    Chartered status (or working towards, e.g. CIBSE/IET) would be an advantage
    Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesWhat's on Offer:
