About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Label Press Operator to join our production team on a permanent basis. Operating on a structured, 4-day compressed week, this position offers an excellent work-life balance with a guaranteed 3-day weekend.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end setup, operation, and maintenance of our Focus & similar label printing presses, producing high-quality garment labels, and decorative ribbons for major clients.
Shift & Working Hours:
- Total Hours: 33 hours per week.
- Days: 4 days per week Monday to Thursday
- Shift Times: 7.45am to 4.00pm (Includes paid breaks)
- Benefits: Fixed schedule with no weekend working and a guaranteed 3-day weekend.
Key Responsibilities:
- Press Operation: Full setup, make-ready, operation, and troubleshooting of Focus letterpress and similar equipment.
- Quality & Registration: Manage front-to-back registration and precise colour matching for multi-colour fabric printing runs.
- Substrate Handling: Monitor guides, material tension, and ink delivery to prevent fabric distorting or printing defects on specialized textiles.
- Tooling & Finishing: Mount plates and cylinders and safely set integrated rotary cutters or rewinders.
- Maintenance: Conduct daily mechanical checks, basic machine maintenance, and thorough wash-downs between runs.
- Apprenticiship Mentoring: Supervise and mentor existing apprentice(s) in training and development.
- Warehouse & Inventory Management: Assist with moving of goods and raw materials around the warehouse and factory where required (forklift certification a bonus).
Requirements:
- Machinery Experience: Proven hands-on experience operating narrow-web label presses machinery is require.
- Material Expertise: Strong background in printing on textile substrates (satin, nylon, polyester, taffeta) or narrow-web ribbons.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of letterpress or flexographic print mechanics, ink mixing, and fine registration adjustment.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong self-motivation to work efficiently within a 4-day production schedule, and an excellent eye for colour consistency.
