The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Belcan Workforce Solutions are currently looking for two Electrical Authorised Persons (AP)
to support a major, high-profile project within a highly regulated environment in Reading. This is a key role focused on ensuring electrical safety, compliance, and coordination across complex construction and commissioning activities.
The posts are estimated 6 month contracts and are paying competitively on a daily basis.
Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain UK Security Clearance.
An IR35 assessment for tax purposes is required for this engagement. In order to determine the Limited Company's correct IR35 status, an individual Limited Company assessment will be required.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing and coordinating electrical safety in line with approved procedures, ensuring compliance with nuclear licence conditions, project governance, and quality standards.
Working closely with site, construction, commissioning, and engineering teams, you will play a critical role in safely delivering project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate electrical safety across site activities
Manage and support Electrical APs, ensuring adherence to procedures and standards
Coordinate safe isolations, energisations, and live testing activities
Liaise with engineering, construction, commissioning teams and subcontractors
Audit contractors and carry out site inspections
Review and approve Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and energisation requests
Support the M&E Permit Office to control live electrical works
Maintain AP registers and support training, assessment, and appointment of APs
Ensure all documentation and testing complies with project requirements
Deliver electrical safety training to project teams
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Proven experience as an Electrical Authorised Person (AP(E))
Strong background in large-scale construction and commissioning environments
Excellent knowledge of electrical safety standards, including HSAWA, EAWR, and CDM regulations
Experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple workstreams
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and lead across teams
Essential Qualifications & Certifications
Time-served Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer
17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Electrical testing qualifications (2391 or 2394/2395)
AP(E) training
SMSTS (or equivalent)
First Aid certification
