An established, friendly precision engineering company in South Oxfordshire is looking for an experienced CNC Miller / Precision Engineer to join its small engineering team.
This is a great opportunity for a proper hands-on engineer who enjoys varied, interesting work and solving engineering problems – not simply loading a programme and pressing cycle start.
The Role
The role involves programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC milling machines, working across a varied range of precision engineering projects.
Machines include Hurco VM10i, VMX30 and VM50Ti, with 4th-axis capability.
The work is predominantly one-offs, prototypes and small batches, alongside modifications, repairs and reverse-engineered components.
You'll be trusted to take ownership of jobs, decide how best to manufacture components and select appropriate tooling, workholding and machining strategies.
What You'll Need
* Strong Hurco CNC milling experience
* Confident programming, setting and operating CNC mills independently
* Good knowledge of Hurco machines
* Fusion 360 CAD/CAM programming experience
* Hurco WinMax conversational programming skills
* Ability to work confidently from engineering drawings, CAD models and existing components
* Good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and workholding
* Experience with one-offs, prototypes and small-batch machining
* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
* A strong eye for quality, accuracy and detail
Wire EDM / wire erosion experience would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
