How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

Job description

About the role:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Beckton STW.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to assist in keeping such a site running.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Examples of equipment that you will be working on include motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
Completing statutory checks as required.
Always working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.Base Location – Beckton STW – IG11 0AD

Working Pattern: 38 hours per week Monday-Friday.7:30 am -3:36pm Plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Equipment: All PPE, tools, use of company van and a fuel card are provided.

What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial.
Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
The work will require physical fitness, as you will work in confined spaces with the successful completion of the appropriate training.
A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, is provided.What’s in it for you?

Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution.
