The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major section of the HS2 project in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, supporting the successful delivery of complex earthworks packages.
We are keen to speak with engineers who have a proven track record delivering large-scale earthworks, highways, rail, or major civil engineering projects and who are comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
Setting out for earthworks activities including cuttings, embankments, haul roads and associated infrastructure.
Managing quality assurance processes, ITPs and inspection records.
Producing and reviewing as-built surveys.
Monitoring subcontractor performance and progress against programme.
Raising and responding to RFIs and technical queries.
Ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with project specifications.
Liaising with site management, survey teams and subcontractors.
Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering projects.
Strong earthworks experience is essential.
Experience with GPS, Total Station and surveying equipment.
Understanding of QA processes, ITPs and permit systems.
Experience delivering works for Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects.
CSCS card.
Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
SMSTS or SSSTS desirable.
Previous HS2 experience would be highly advantageous
