About the Role
A specialist fit out and refurb contractor is looking to recruit a Buyer to join its team in Oldham. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor packages, supporting multiple projects from enquiry through to completion.
The business delivers high-quality fit out, refurb and construction projects across the hospitality, leisure, retail and commercial sectors throughout the UK. With an established in-house joinery workshop, you'll also procure materials to support both site operations and manufacturing, working closely with the commercial, project, workshop and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Raise and process purchase orders
Obtain and compare supplier quotations to achieve the best value for projects
Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, lead times and availability
Procure materials, plant, subcontractor packages and workshop materials
Coordinate deliveries to ensure materials arrive in line with project and workshop programmes
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
Work closely with the commercial, project, workshop and site teams to understand procurement requirements
Review drawings and specifications to support material procurement
Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules
Maintain accurate procurement records and purchasing documentation
Support cost control and identify opportunities to improve value across the supply chainIdeal Candidate
Previous experience as a Buyer or within a procurement role in the construction industry
Experience procuring construction materials, plant and subcontractor packages
Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills
Experience within a main contractor or fit out environment would be advantageous
Knowledge of fit out, refurb or construction projects would be beneficial
