The role:
We are currently recruiting for Specialist Mentor's (Mental Health) based in and around Reading that can offer a hybrid approach to supporting students – this means you must be able to provide both online and in-person support.
Responsibilities:
As a Specialist Mentor, you will be responsible for supporting students during their studies and helping them to develop effective learning strategies including:

Helping student to stay focused on their studies – especially during times when their mental health may fluctuate
*
Organisation and time management - planning and structuring workloads
*
Managing anxiety and stress
*
Executive functioning support – organisation, task prioritisation, balancing time
*
Handling the emotional impact of study – such as academic stress or responding to or interpreting feedback
*
Identifying students that may be at risk – either through disengagement or from various warning signs including actions, thoughts or behaviours
Experience and qualifications:
* You should understand different mental health conditions and how they may impact a student as part of their studies.
* It is essential that you hold a relevant professional body membership such as BACP, MBACP, BPS, COSCA, GMC, HCPC, ISPC, IACP, NCPS, NMC, SWE, SCW, NISCC, UKCP or UMHAN.
* The role would be well suited for qualified mental health professionals or practitioner such as a counsellor, psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatric nurse, or mental health nurse. Many of our Specialist Mentors will support students alongside their main role as a mental health practitioner.
Pay and benefits:
You will be employed on a flexible temporary basis and can choose to support as many students as you wish. There is a huge amount of flexibility available to you and we offer a competitive hourly rate.
