How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job description

Health Care Assistant (Care homes)

Malvern

£13.12 - £14.43 per hour

Contract: Full Time (36 hpw) + Part Time (24 hpw)

Working Pattern: Days, Nights + Weekends

Our vision is to make sure all older people have the opportunity to live fulfilled lives, could you help us achieve this?

We are looking for people who are passionate about care and want to support older people to live well in later life. We currently have an opportunity for someone to join us as a Health Care Assistant in Malvern.

With a person-focused approach to care, Bradbury Court, Perrin's and Davenham are picturesque homes situated in beautiful grounds in Malvern. Specialising in care for people with dementia, as well as residential and nursing care, we have a dedicated, well-trained and compassionate team of staff that care for our residents.

About us

A caring organisation with a rich history.

For over 120 years, we have been helping older people live well and find fulfilment in later life. Through our care homes, day centres and grants programme, we provide support, connection and dignity when it is needed most. We also work with partners to extend our impact and ensure older people remain at the heart of their communities.

As a charity, all surplus income from our paid-for services is reinvested into our other charitable activities to enable us to reach more people. We also rely on the generosity of the public, trusts, foundations, and companies to deliver these often life-changing services.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is Friends of the Elderly's Patron and Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra is the charity’s President. We will always:

* Promote enhanced wellbeing

* Strive for excellence

* Treat people with respect

* Keep everyone safe

This isn’t just a job; it’s about making a difference to older people’s lives every day.

No prior experience is needed, as we will give you all the training you’ll need to excel in this role. All you need to bring is a passion for care.

About the role

You’ll be working as part of a dedicated team to deliver person-centred care, unique to each individual and support and enable our residents to maintain key skills, personal interests, independence, choice, and dignity, so that they can lead fulfilled lives. We will provide you with the tools and guidance to develop your skills and confidence in this role.

To ensure we can achieve this, our shift patterns include evenings, weekends, and some unsociable hours.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who are empathetic, respectful, self-motivated, flexible, reliable, willing to go the extra mile and able to work as part of a team. You will need great communication and interpersonal skills, so that you can form solid relationships with our residents, along with number and digital skills and the ability to problem solve and adapt to situations.

Working as a Health Care Assistant means no two days are the same. This role encompasses a range of tasks dependent on the residents needs including:

* Monitoring, recording, and administering care records.

* Assistance with mobility and personal care.

* Providing companionship.

Benefits

We really value the hard work and commitment of all of our staff, and offer:

* Learning, development, and progression.

* Paid breaks.

* Wellbeing support through various initiatives including an employee assistance programme offering up to 10 counselling, 4 life, 4 leadership, 3 financial coaching sessions per person, per issue, per year.

* Retail discount schemes to make your salary go further.

* Access to loans at affordable rates, saving directly from salary and advance pay already earnt.

* Health cash plans for you and your family.

* Cycle to work scheme.

* Long service awards, that increase with length of service.

* Refer a friend to work for us and receive a £200 bonus

* Group Pension Plan, with a 6% contribution from us

* Free parking at our homes.

* Evening, weekend, and bank holiday enhancements to pay, as well as overtime premiums.

* Uniforms are provided.

* Free DBS checks

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

Friends of the Elderly is dedicated to equality, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and accepted. Our goal is to attract and retain caring individuals who make a difference.

We respect and support all staff, service users, volunteers, and contractors as unique individuals, encouraging personal growth and understanding.

We strive to listen, learn, and improve, asking everyone to commit to self-education and open dialogue. We urge staff to challenge actions that conflict with our values and uphold the rights of all.

We welcome requests for reasonable adjustments or accommodations for disabled and neurodivergent applicants during recruitment or interviews. Please inform us if you need any.

Apply now and we will be in touch with the next steps towards starting your rewarding new career.

Don’t delay in sending your application as we may need to close the vacancy early if we manage to appoint before the advertising closing date. We interview applicants as they apply.

Safeguarding

Keeping everyone safe is one of the charity’s core values, and is central to everything we do at Friends of the Elderly. All staff follow our Safeguarding Policy & Procedures and, if they see or suspect abuse, we expect staff to report it straight away.

Criminal record checks:
