As a Sports Turf Technician, you'll work as part of a small and supportive grounds team, helping maintain and prepare the school's sports pitches, playing fields, artificial surfaces, gardens, and wider outdoor areas. You'll be involved in mowing, aeration, fertilising, turf repairs, irrigation, pitch marking, and general upkeep to ensure the grounds are maintained to an excellent standard throughout the year.
The ideal candidate will have experience within sports turf, grounds maintenance, greenkeeping, or a similar environment. Experience working on sports grounds would be highly desirable, and relevant qualifications such as PA1, PA2, PA6 or a Sports Turf qualification would be advantageous but are not essential. You must hold a full clean driving licence, as the role will involve using school vehicles across the estate.

The role:
*Maintain and prepare sports pitches, playing fields, artificial surfaces, and wider outdoor areas.
*Carry out mowing, aeration, fertilising, weed control, turf repairs, irrigation, and pitch marking.
*Work across a large and varied school estate with excellent sports facilities.
*Use and maintain a range of grounds machinery, tools, and equipment.
*Support the upkeep of safe, functional, and visually appealing playing surfaces.
*Work as part of a small, close-knit and supportive sports turf / grounds team.
*Full-time permanent position, 39 hours per week.
*Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm and Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm.

The person:
*Experience within sports turf, grounds maintenance, greenkeeping, or a similar environment.
*Proven experience working on sports grounds would be highly desirable.
*PA1, PA2, PA6 or Sports Turf qualifications advantageous but not essential.
*Full clean driving licence required.
*Reliable, committed, and looking for a long-term opportunity.
*Able to work well as part of a close-knit team.
*Confident working independently and using initiative when required.
*Happy to work within a school environment and complete safer recruitment checks.
*Based locally or within a sensible commute to Uppingham.
