The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Our client is seeking a Senior Health and Safety Manager to lead the health and safety function across rail projects, site locations and offices. The role will provide strategic leadership, technical advice and practical support, helping to embed a culture centred on safe working, sustainability and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the rollout and implementation of health and safety elements within the Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing strategy across projects
Provide day-to-day health and safety leadership, advice and support to project teams, offices, employees and contractors
Ensure health and safety policies, procedures and management system processes reflect current legislation and are effectively implemented
Review, update and produce health and safety documentation for the business management system
Carry out site safety inspections, audits and reviews of corrective actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits
Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are accurately reported, investigated and communicated in line with company procedures
Support continuous improvement by sharing lessons learnt and contributing to internal and external audit programmes
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, training and coaching for employees, contractors and project stakeholders
Provide technical assistance to Project Managers and the Head of Operational Health and Safety
Attend business and project meetings, providing clear updates on health, safety and environmental matters
Line manage and support other Health and Safety Advisors
Job Requirements:
Significant experience as a Health and Safety Manager within a Tier 1 organisation
Previous experience in the rail, power, utilities or tunnelling sectors
Working and demonstrable understanding of health and safety legislation
Understanding of electrical and mechanical standards, construction industry practices and ISO 45001
Experience of carrying out accident and incident investigations
NEBOSH Diploma or NCRQ Diploma
Graduate membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
CSCS card and a full UK driving licence
Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent communication, coaching, investigation and report-writing skills
