Pay Rate: £18.79 per hour PAYE
Job Type: 6-month contract (with a view to go permanent) or permanent from the outset
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Machinist to join a well-established engineering team. Based in Barton Under Needwood, with initial training provided in Doncaster (.30 p per mile), this role offers the opportunity to secure a long-term position within a high-quality manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings and strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and/or manual machines (turning, milling, grinding)
Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications
Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and product quality
Carry out inspection of finished components using precision measuring equipment (e.g. micrometres, verniers, gauges)
Make minor program edits or tooling adjustments where required
Maintain machines and work areas to a high standard of housekeeping (5S)
Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies
Work to production targets and deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
Skills & Experience
Previous experience within a machining or manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances
CNC programming experience (desirable but not essential)
Competent in the use of measuring equipment
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Qualifications
Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (preferred)
Relevant machining or CNC certifications (advantageous)
