Prison Nurse – West Midlands & East Midlands
HCR Recruitment is recruiting experienced Prison Nurses, Registered General Nurses (RGN) and Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) for HMP healthcare services across the West Midlands and East Midlands. Flexible agency shifts and ongoing assignments are available.
The Role
As a Prison Nurse, you will provide safe, evidence-based healthcare within a secure environment, supporting patients with physical health, mental health and complex healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities
*
Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in line with NMC standards.
*
Conduct clinical assessments, triage, health screenings and patient reviews.
*
Administer medication and treatments safely.
*
Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
*
Manage acute, chronic and complex health conditions within a secure setting.
*
Provide emergency nursing care and respond appropriately to clinical incidents.
*
Support patients with physical health, mental health and substance misuse needs.
*
Develop and implement person-centred care plans.
*
Work effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
*
Maintain high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality, infection prevention and clinical governance.
Essential Requirements
*
Current NMC Registration as an RGN or RMN.
*
Minimum 6 months' UK Prison Healthcare / HMP experience – Mandatory.
*
Valid Prison Clearance – Mandatory.
*
PMVA Certification – Mandatory.
*
Valid Enhanced DBS.
*
Professional references covering the last 3 years.
*
Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills.
*
Right to work in the UK.
