Site Manager / Caretaker Required - Welcoming Primary School, Edgbaston
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and experienced Site Manager / Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming Primary School in Edgbaston, Birmingham from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive school community where maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented learning environment is a priority. The school is looking for a dedicated individual who can take ownership of the site and ensure the premises are maintained to a high standard.
The role is full-time and long-term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
As Site Manager / Caretaker, your duties will include:
* Opening and closing the school premises
* Ensuring the security of the school buildings and grounds
* Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks
* Monitoring the condition of the site and reporting major repairs
* Supervising contractors and site visitors
* Conducting regular health and safety checks
* Maintaining school grounds and outdoor areas
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
* Supporting with room setups and school events
* Responding promptly to maintenance and site-related issues
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
* Have previous experience as a School Site Manager, Caretaker, Premises Officer or similar role
* Ideally have experience working within a school environment
* Possess good practical maintenance and DIY skills
* Have a sound understanding of health and safety procedures
* Be organised, dependable and able to work independently
* Demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
