About the Provision:
This unique specialist provision, based on the outskirts of Yeovil, supports Secondary-aged girls whose educational journeys have been significantly disrupted by trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Many students are working academically within KS1 and KS2 pathways and require highly personalised, nurturing support to help rebuild trust in education, develop emotional regulation, and re-engage with learning.
The school is proudly trauma-informed, providing a safe, consistent, and therapeutic environment for young people who have experienced exploitation, complex trauma, and prolonged periods of educational disruption. Students present with a range of additional needs including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance).
The Nurture Teacher Role:
The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students feel safe, valued, and capable of success. You will create meaningful learning experiences that meet students at their individual starting points, while supporting their emotional wellbeing and personal development.
Key responsibilities for this Nurture Teacher role include:
* Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons across a broad, adaptable curriculum
* Providing targeted interventions and one-to-one support where needed
* Scaffolding learning to build confidence, engagement, and independence
* Identifying and responding to individual SEMH needs and barriers to learning
* Developing and implementing effective IEPs and contributing to EHCP outcomes
* Using restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and relationship building
* Working collaboratively with families, support staff, therapists, and external agencies
* Monitoring progress closely and adapting strategies to meet evolving student needs
* Creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing classroom environment where students can thrive
The Ideal Nurture Teacher:
We are looking for a resilient, compassionate, and reflective educator who understands that relationships are at the heart of learning.
You will have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, PTSD, EBSA, and other behavioural support requirements
* A strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive teaching approaches
* Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* The ability to remain calm, consistent, and adaptable in a dynamic environment
* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed both academically and emotionally
* Commitment to continued professional development and reflective practice
* Right to Work in the UK and the ability to commute to or reside near Yeovil
* An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
