The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Section Engineer with a strong highways background to join a major contractor delivering key works on the prestigious HS2 project in Northamptonshire.

The Role
As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities across your section of works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and coordinating site engineering teams
Overseeing highways, earthworks and drainage activities
Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with ITPs and quality requirements
Managing subcontractors and site activities
Producing RAMS, WPPs and construction documentation
Maintaining accurate records, QA documentation and reporting
Working closely with Site Agents and Project Managers to drive programme delivery
Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations
Requirements
Previous experience as a Section Engineer on major infrastructure projects
Strong highways construction experience
Proven background working for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
Excellent setting out and engineering knowledge
Experience with surveying equipment including Trimble GPS and Total Stations
Strong understanding of QA processes and documentation
Ability to manage multiple work fronts and engineering teams
