TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic mainstream primary school in Newham to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. This welcoming and well-resourced setting provides an inclusive, nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
The school is looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2 with a range of additional needs, including Autism / ASD, Moderate Learning Difficulties / MLD, Severe Learning Difficulties / SLD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs, supporting both academic progress and personal development.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning
Team Teach, Makaton or other relevant training would be advantageous
