We're working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to join their busy Residential Conveyancing team in Colchester
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous conveyancing or legal support experience to join a supportive and professional environment, assisting fee earners with residential property transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
The Role
We are seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to provide essential support to the Residential Conveyancing team, helping to ensure transactions progress smoothly and clients receive an excellent standard of service throughout the process.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting fee earners with the day-to-day management of residential conveyancing files
- Supporting transactions from instruction through to completion and post-completion
- Handling client enquiries and providing professional support via telephone, email and in person
- Liaising with estate agents, mortgage lenders, solicitors and other third parties throughout transactions
- Preparing and drafting standard correspondence and legal documentation
- Assisting with file opening procedures and preparing initial client documentation
- Undertaking AML and client due diligence checks
- Providing conveyancing quotations to prospective clients and supporting new business enquiries
- Assisting with Land Registry applications, post-completion work and file closure procedures
- Maintaining accurate records using the firm's case management system
- Assisting with general administrative duties including filing, scanning and post management
About You
- Previous experience within a conveyancing or legal support environment
- Good understanding of the residential conveyancing process
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and client care skills
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a busy office environment
- Experience using legal case management systems is advantageous
