The Opportunity
An established and growing main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a major new-build leisure complex in Yeovil.
The contractor specialises in fast-track design-and-build projects across the leisure, retail, industrial and logistics sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful project team and deliver a prestigious, technically challenging development that will provide modern sporting and community facilities for the local area.
The Project
The development comprises a state-of-the-art steel-frame leisure centre, including:
- 25-metre swimming pool with a 68-seat viewing gallery
- Steam room and sauna facilities
- Teaching pool with a moveable floor and pool hoist
- Five-court sports hall with underfloor heating and a dividing wall
- Two climate-controlled studios with sprung floors
- 65-station gym and dedicated group cycling studio
- Flexible-use changing facilities
- Two Changing Places toilets and fully accessible facilities
- Multi-purpose function room with bar facilities
- Café overlooking the teaching pool
- External works, landscaping and associated infrastructure
- On-site car park with electric vehicle charging points and cycle storage
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Managing and coordinating subcontractors and site personnel
* Supporting the development and implementation of the construction programme
* Monitoring progress against key project milestones
* Ensuring all works comply with drawings, specifications and quality requirements
* Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
* Managing site logistics, deliveries and material coordination
* Chairing subcontractor and progress meetings
* Completing site inspections, quality checks and associated documentation
* Identifying potential delays, risks and technical issues
* Liaising with the client, design team, consultants and senior management
* Managing the completion, commissioning, snagging and handover process
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
* Previous experience working as a Senior Site Manager for a recognised main contractor
* Experience delivering new-build projects from the groundworks stage through to completion
* Leisure centre, swimming pool, sports facility or complex commercial project experience would be advantageous
* Strong knowledge of steel-frame construction, internal fit-out and building services
* Excellent subcontractor management and programme management skills
* A proven track record of delivering projects safely and to a high standard
* Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
* SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid at Work
