You’ll work closely with teachers to help students stay engaged, complete learning activities and make progress. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting individuals and small groups both inside and outside the classroom.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to young people who may need additional support to re-engage with education. Working alongside experienced teachers, you’ll help students build confidence, develop their skills and achieve their potential.
What You’ll Do
* Support students with classroom activities and learning tasks.
* Work with individuals and small groups to encourage engagement and progress.
* Support the delivery of SEN interventions and individual learning activities.
* Help teachers implement lesson plans and learning objectives.
* Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to students.
* Lead small-group activities where required.
* Support students who may display challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management strategies.
* Provide classroom support and cover when required.
* Supervise students during breaks and lunchtimes.
* Work with teachers and parents to share information about student progress.
* Keep learner records and files accurate and up to date.
* Help create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Good English and Maths skills.
* Understanding of SEN, safeguarding and health & safety requirements.
* Experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.
* Experience supporting students with SEN or individual learning needs.
* Confident using positive behaviour management strategies.
* Ability to work independently while working closely with teaching staff.
* Experience supporting the planning and delivery of learning activities.
* A genuine commitment to helping young people improve their achievement and confidence.
* Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Desirable
* Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an alternative provision setting.
* Understanding of literacy and numeracy requirements.
* Experience supporting young people who may be disengaged from education
